Moong Dal Pakodi
Moong dal ki pakodi or Ram Laddoos
(Green gram fritters)
Wanted to have these awesome pakodis in Delhi, where they are so famous, but couldn’t manage. Have been craving for long since then, so did the next best thing, tried making them myself. They are easy to make with very little chopping involved.
These are nice and soft with a crust, to enhance the flavour serve with green coriander chutney, sweet imli chutney and grated radish. Mmmm.. so good!
The recipe is not complicated, just a bit a bit of soaking, grinding and chopping, then mix everything and deep fry, that’s it!
But you forget all the effort you put in, the moment you put the pakodis in your mouth.

250 gms split moong dal
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1 large onion, finely chopped
1/4 th tsp hing
1 tsp zeera powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp baking powder
A bunch of fresh green coriander leaves, finely chopped
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry
Soak the dal for 2 hours.
Grind it in a blender.
Put a kadai or wok on medium high flame with oil in it to deep fry.
While the oil heats, mix all the ingredients and beat till everything is well incorporated.
Now, deep fry till you get a nice golden yellow colour.
Serve with grated radish, green chutney and meethi chutney. (I didn’t have radish so skipped it)
